Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit have tested positive for coronavirus, the latest among high-profile politicians in India to have contracted the novel coronavirus. Home Minister Amit Shah took to Twitter and informed that he had undergone a coronavirus test after showing initial symptoms. Amit Shah has been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. The total coronavirus cases in India surged to 17.5 lakh on Sunday while the death toll climbed to 37,364. The recovery rate among coronavirus patients has risen to 65.44 per cent while the fatality rate has further dropped to 2.13 per cent. Global coronavirus cases have crossed the 18 million-mark with over 6.87 lakh deaths worldwide.
Amitabh Bachchan says he has immense gratitude for the doctors who provided him with medical care for COVID-19 and feels overwhelmed to be free of the virus finally. Amitabh, on Sunday, tested negative for the novel coronavirus and was discharged from hospital. "It has been heartening to be back from the hospital after the ‘mukti’ from the coronavirus but a sour taste in the mouth when Abhishek has to still be in the medical care," Amitabh wrote in his blog.
